Even with identical donors, cleanroom and careful operation, headswap fails on WD5000KS & WD5000AAKS model drives. Anyone has solution, trick or advice on this?

Hello Mekaniq,
First of all I would like to know what are there (patient and donor) family?
Because probably everything that you have done was correct, but the heads from different families are mismatch.
Also you can check patient heads on donor drive.
Regards

I have the same situation for one WD4000KS-00MNB0.
With corect head map the hdd it's clicking 3 times and after that stop.
If I modify head map and I disable heads 4,5,6,7 the hdd is initilizing and I can read all the modules from head 0.
So in this case was necessary to swap the heads, I used one donnor bougth in the same day(perfect compatible) and I made the head swap, but surprise, with the new heads I can't read nothing from the hard drive, the hdd is not initilizing.
I made a lot of headmap modifications but nothing.
I put back the original heads this are working well but without that 4 heads.
But I need the complete image.

Acelab will soon release some solution for head problems on big WD drives. Until then, there is no point in wasting the donors...
