WD10EADS : need some help please (solved)

Postby hddr49 » 19.02.14, 16:20

Hi there,

The drive : WD10EADS-11M2B3
At power up, it spins up and get ready.

Heads map............................... : 0,1,2,3

I am able to Make HDD resources backup (modules, ROM, Tracks, SA) from copy 1, but on copy 0 it is very slow (a week is not enough)

In DE, it shows "empty partition table" and fall in ABRT error

Head test on utility indicate head 0 weak (not bad, but very slow)
Other heads are ok.

Is the head too weak for data recovery ?

What I have try for now :
- Clear SMART
- Solve Slow response
- Manual page 27 : 2.5
Switch heads map to the Default setting : this is the same, so I don't have done
Recalculate the translator : done, no progress
Edit head map in RAM : my next move
Hot swap : I don't have donnor PCB yet, what should I match ?

If I have to search for donnor heads, actually I search for 5th and 6th char in DCM. Is it true ? extended model is relevant too (-11M2B3) ? head map ?
because I have a donnor with DCM match (patient DGNNNT2CGB, donnor HHRCNT2MH) and donnor is 6-head, while patient is 4-head

Patient :
WD10EADS-11M2B3
Heads map............................... : 0,1,2,3
DCM DGNNNT2CGB

Actual donnor
WD10EADS-00P8B0
Head maps unknown (pcb hs) but probably 0,1,2,3,4,5 - can't switch off Unnecessary heads
DCM HHRCNT2MH

Another potential donnor I have
WD10-EADS-00M2B0
Heads map............................... : 0,1,2,3
DCM HARCHV2MAB

Many thanks for help

Solved.

I found a compatible drive
- WD10EADS-11M2B3
- DCM HANCNT2MA
- S/N & DATE CLOSE ENOUGH

I switch heads, and I currently recover data.
