Postby sosrecup » 24.07.13, 16:34

Hello,

I have a WD 2.5" Scorpio Blue (Model WD5000BEVT-00A0RT0).

When I connect it to PC3000, it is recognized and it reaches readiness. When the drive spin, I can hear a strange sound.

When I run the utility, the model in not recognized and when I choose the model Scoprio, I get the logs bellow:

##############################
RAM:
HDD Info reading........................ : Ok
Heads number............................ : 4
Cyl Count............................... : 256

Zone allocation table................... : HDDs RAM reading error - Device Error Detected: "VSCE PERM OVL NOT LOADED. LDR Upload is recomended"

ROM:
ROM reading............................. : Ok
ROM Data size........................... : 256 Kb
ROM version............................. : 16.0SW
ROM generation.......................... : 16.0SW
Link table version...................... : 07.17.
Consolidated ROM version................ : 0016000S

ROM Modules:

ROM Firmware version.................... :

Service area:
SA dir reading (ID)..................... : DISK SERVO SPINDLE SPINUP ERROR
Configuration reading................... : Module 02 not found
###########################

When I access the Kernel mode, I can read ROM but not SA. when I try to rearch SA by region, I get error and it recommaend to use an LDR file.

Any procedure or solution to resolve the problem please?

Kind regards,

does it remain powered constantly? Do you have a LDR you an use?

If you have good donor you can try several things:

Put donor (non-native) PCB on, see if it still makes the same "strange sound"
With non-native PCB on, load LDR saved from your donor (this will match ROM version)
Try HotSwap

To help remotely is difficult, but assuming your media remains powered a hot-swap should give some level of access, even if just SA access to begin with

Hello,

Many thanks for you answer.

Unfortunately I don't have a donor drive.

I hear 5 times a quit sound then it stops.

I'm searching for an LDR file and I'm trying to use another headmap

Kind regards,

Seems like head failure. Also, this is mariner not scorpio so maybe your utility doesnt have correct support for it? What utility version are you using?

The drive stop spinning after I hear 5 times a quit sound. It should be a bad heads.

I have the last version 5.2.4. The drive is recognized with Marnier but on the top of the HDD, its written Scoprio Blue (see photo)
