Help with WD10EAVS-00D7B0 'almost' 100% read

Postby RescueDRL@gmail.com » 27.01.11, 03:40

Hi, this 1TB drive with 2 Billion sectors 'almost' is read (on DDI) except for about 3800 sectors.
This is frustrating because it contains only 1 giant file that is still corrupt due to these few sectors.

I have attached a partial screenshot of the PC3KU log. On Resources Backup you see many errors
in Cylinder -97 like this:
Physical read error C/H/S: -97/1/1 - Device Error Detected: "DM SECTOR OUT OF RANGE"

Otherwise, the drive paases the SA Structure test. What else can I test?

Please advise if this is revealing the problem and/or how to repair this condition.

Cheers,

Hi
It is ok that hdd can not read some sectors in service area. These sectors may be not formatted. That is why you can not read it.
To test SA you should use menu "Modules directory".
I think in your case you just have hdd with bad sectors.
You should create sub map of unread sectors and try to read it again.
Try to use other reading modes, try to increase number of retries of reading and etc.
