Postby ZeBong » 12.06.08, 00:07

I have problems with WD5000AAKS, the pcb was burned "microprocessor" burned and another chips this model doesnt has external ROM, so its included on Microprocessor i tried to put another PCB from an donnor and knocks so replaced heads with an donnor , this model has ramp like hitachi, so its not so hard to did the head swap, i gotanother donnor matching MDL,DATA,DCM

Ths are the label

Patient
MDL WD5000AAKS-00TMA0
DATE 10 APR 2007
DCM HBNCNV2CHB

dONNOR
MDL WD5000AAKS-00TMA0
DATE 10 APR 2007
DCM HBNCNV2CAB
Same MDL , on Donnor Same Date 14 APRL 2007 , the most closest DCM all letters matching like u can see

But after did head swap the hdd not knocks but sounds its like trying to recalibrate ,tried 3 times then motor stop and send DRDY DSC, its this caused by mismatching of ROM on Donnor PCB, i cant get ROM from patient becasue its burned, what can i tried

Hello ZeBong.

In Tornado family ROM image positioned on ID=010xh
You can gather native ROM from SA. You should find donor PCB for SA reading;donor must have allmost the same number.
Or you can left 1 head in your donor and read it on patient.
After that gather native ROM.

Hello,

can this help-me in this disk.

" 24th of June 2008
For WD HDD ROYL family line, we have developed the unique method of recovering the native ROM in case PCB is fully damaged.
This method is important for WD HDD that do not have external ROM, when PCB is damaged and there is no possibility to use kernal/safe mode or when native PCB was lost. The peculiarity of the method is that the native ROM is synthesised from the service area modules. This method is fully automatic. It is just enough to set down any other PCB onto patient HDA from the compatible families and choose this mode. "

Thanks
Jose
