I have an ST2000DM001 that spins up, no unusual noises, does not become ready.

CTL-Z does not go into terminal

Cannot enter change HDD ID

Will shorting points work with this drive?

You need to use tweezers to apply to read channels on PCB during normal drive startup. Short circuit needs to be done at the correct moment to retain access to terminal to allow to make manual repairs with terminal commands which is currently impossible while reaches LED error
