I have 7200.12 st500dm002 hdd.
After changing the Heads.
- It Spinup perfectly.
- No clicking noise.
- Detect as 3.86gb (as Pcb mode)
- Motor did not stop. It run continuesly.

- Terminal Output.

Can We have to update CAR + SAP etc modules in the rom from donor head hdd?
How to recover the data?

Hello,

There is a method you should follow for getting to terminal with shorting. The contacts must be identified properly.
On the most drives reading channel line is crossed with an element, so it is easy to find two lines that go from pads to CPU on your drive board.
You should short the contacts with a pincers when holding a paperclip with it.
Also, the moment to short is before 2nd recalibration. When shorted properly, drive will start to click and then it will stop. At the same time press ctrl-z within terminal window and check if T> is there.

It definately looks like some hardware error, are you sure heads are not bad?

The customer has taken back the hard disk. Now no other analysis possible.

I have same case. Support online of ACE Said "ERROR Media Cache" .

It seems like PCB or heads problem.

Try to swap PCB with ROM transfer.
Else heads swap.

I have the same problem. There are 2 nos. 8 leg chip. Which one is ROM

Can try. Reopen PC3000 software or restart the PC. can receive signals Teminal

Im sure PCB is good, heads maybe are bad but with RECOV error and not FAIL error there is still some options before head change

Can RRO Mode / slow seek in rom option will help?
