reading modules

Postby Continuum » 26.07.11, 05:52

Hi,

This may seem a strange question, but how can you read the modules if the drive is constantly busy?

I have a 7200.12 here that is constantly busy, and when I try the shorting points fix for 000000CC, it shows F3> but then says ASCII DIAG Mode and then repeats this and so there is no stable F3>

I want to regenerate translator through the terminal, but want to back up the modules first.

How do I do this through the terminal?

If a hard drive displays you "000000CC" messages repeatedly, then there are a certain hardware problems on this drive. You need to get a same model donor drive and transfer its logic board to patient drive with ROM resoldering.
Then try shorting points again and see if anythning changed. It is possible your logic board will come to T> and allow you to perform commands.

If terminal log will still have "00000CC" most likely the drive has heads stack malfunctions, and you need to take it from donor drive.
Heads donor has to be with a same model and same site code pritned on top label. Near date of manufacture is also recommended.

Show me please the terminal output. Also tell if the drive enters ready state or stop spindle motor after these points were shorted.
It is not possible to read modules, when hard drive is in a busy state, ready state is required.
