Hello i have a Seagate ST9250315ASG 5400.6 the drive spindle the motor and start whit no sound, works fine but when i acces to F3 seagate send the ID diferent. it is posible Fiux the Firmware or Rom to identify correctly this drive

When i tray to acces to terminal, no respond.. cant read CP. or other stuff. i try to unsolder the external rom and install in a other PCB but same problem.

That information is being retrieved from the ROM. Currently the drive is not getting access to the surface, either because of BSY problem or heads failure or something else.

Ok.. Thank you, i will tray to Exchange the Heads. but, i dont know if the ROM is damage there is any way to acces to terminal by passing Read Chanel?

I worked with many cases 5400.6, it is not head problem, it is firmware problem, I am sure of this, but the firmware problem could not be solved till now, I think ACE should do something for this problem to solve it.

The ID you see is identified from ROM, and happens in cases where heads are damaged and SA cannot load to RAM, and in cases where SA is damaged.

If HDD stops spindle at any point, then heads are probably defective.

Alternatively, you need access to SA to repair firmware fault. The strange ID you see is displayed with most OEM models, such as HP, and Terminal access is blocked. You can try 2 things here:

1 - Smart HotSwap from non OEM model to attempt to maintain Terminal access. This is very tricky process as no two F3 drives are compatible for hot swap, and is impossible for data access, but if done correctly should SA access could be OK.

2 - You need to identify the read channels, can usually be done by tracing the tracks on PCB from processor to HSA connection.


I think data loss and further SA complications are always problems with these F3 families, so if at any point you are unclear about anything you should post here or ask Ace for advice.

Thanks For youre Post.. the drive never stopt the spindle Motor no Extrange sound of heads when we power on, i ll tray the Hot swap whit no succes, i will try to find the read chanel and try to acces to the terminal..
