I got the drive which is encrypted (that is what the owner says). I connect to PC3000 and it will come up ready but the max LBA is not showing. It will show only a part of the max LBA and the size is 128MB. What can be the problem here and how to solve it?

Model: ST980816AS / Firmware: 3.ADB

Any suggestions?

I think with this HDD the encryption is at a SA level.

I believe that terminal is disabled in these drives, so the Seagate utility will not work

Safe Mode works, but is restricted a little.

Excuse me, but for me I haven't Safe mode (F3 series) and when we would access in terminal I have

>(1Ah)-Serial Port Disabled

I have make a video of my little tool for break the problem with FDE who are "Trusted" (not ATA password but fully encrypted). You can see at http://www.hddsync.com/services/unlock-fde/

Maybe you need this (if you have the USER password)...

Ps : We can't access to SA on this disk , I have just read ID page , nothing else ...

I came with the same hard disk, but I repaired it and then from Seagate Casing itself I have recovered the data.
