Problems after Self Scan

Postby bvreddy » 29.12.10, 14:49

Dear Friends
Baracuda 7200.10 ,Galaxy2D, St3320620A ,3.AAF.

Before running self scan hdd surface was checked up to 40% and its quite good , remaining area not checked. Verified the age after some time during self scan , its shows 4F. Verified the log with T>D command shows lot of code 43 are displayed . After that i tried logical verification ,surprisingly lots of defects in the beginning about upto 50gb but rest is good .when i am triying to hide to P-list its shows

Defects hiding...
Code - 59 Track FFFFF(16230).3.06A Sns FFF Rty F7FF.50.80FF Rtf 1800 LBA 3BBFAA1A
Adding cycle : Operation "Hiding 0x18 : 0x0 : 0x377" completed with error! Error code 0x59
Description............................. : Too many defects per track
Code - 59 Track FFFFF(16230).3.06A Sns FFF Rty F7FF.50.80FF Rtf 1800 LBA 3BBFAD03
Adding cycle : Operation "Hiding 0x18 : 0x0 : 0x376" completed with error! Error code 0x59

Tried logical scanninig and while hiding defects to p-list, chosen an option to"execute pre-erase ALT and PENDING defects" first time(not sure when this was done in this process) Is this the real cause?
How to hide entire track in seagate hdds or can we hide portion (50gb) of hdd so that we can use rest.

What is the best way to handle this? Help
