Hello friends,
According to the fact, that this is my first post on this forum. I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Robert (from Poland) and want to learn a lot about data recovery sector, hope together we will be able to find optimal solutions in our daily problems with HDD's.
A few days ago, I was instructed by Roustam to run "Search for NTFS structure" on the WD HDD (320GB ATA) which I want to recover two ZIP files from.
(By the way Recuva and R-Studio have found this 2 ZIP files but its size is "zero bytes" does it mean these files are lost forever or maybe is there a chance to recover it with PC-3000 UDMA and Data Extractor ? )
Let's back to the current problem. Below You will find steps which I have performed:
- I connected the cables to HDD
- I run PC-3000 UDMA with admin rights on my Windows 7 system
- I powered on the HDD, indicators on the bottom are DRD and DSC.
- I opened Data Extractor and selected New Task
- As source I indicated PC3000 ATA 0 channel - because the drive there is connected
- Next window is "Task initialization" I left all options as default (software reset, hardware rest, read drive ID, 25000ms)
- Next windows is "Task options" I left all options as default (nothing is checked)
- Next small window appeared "Parameters" I left all options as default, and pressed OK
- After that step the utility started to run and after a few seconds my LCD became black with a "NO SIGNAL" message.
Momentally I thought my new 19" ASUS LCD is broken, but it isn't.
My ASUS mainboard has got built-in graphic card (on-board) and it also works. I switched my power supply off, turned it on again and my computer started normally as usual.
Then I connected another disk Seagate 500GB (HD502HJ) and the same problem occured while performing "Search for NTFS structure" !!!
I have no idea what's wrong, waiting for Your help friends.
Thank You in advance
Best regards,
Robert

Thanks for reply and support ZeBong, by INF file, do You mean the chipset drivers delivered on CD with my ASUS motherboard, if yes, so I can say that I have installed all drivers from the CD.
I have also sent an email to TS team and waiting for answer:
After pressing "Search NTFS structures" the utility runs and after a few seconds the screen freezes.
CTRL+ALT+DEL is not working, ALT+TAB is not working either, generally everything is freezed like You can see on the images.
This image shows the last working window, after pressing OK in the "Parameters" windows the screen freezes after a few seconds.

My system configuration is:
Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 620 s.AM3
RAM: Geil 2x2GB DDR3 1333 Dual Chanel Kit 9-9-9
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS-EU 500W
OS: Windows 7 Professional x86 (32bit)
Graphic card: built in the ASUS motherboard - the problem exists.
I have bought and installed a new graphic card: NVidia GeForce 9400 GT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E - the problem still exists.
I have downloaded and updated BIOS from original ASUS Support website - the problem still exists.
I have uninstalled previous graphic drivers - nothing changed.
After the Windows 7 Professional I have installed all drivers for chipset, audio, vga, lan, etc from original Asus CD.
Of course the PC-3000 UDMA is running with admin rights
PC-3000 UDMA version is the latest one, downloaded from Personal Updated Box
I have installed also drivers 2.26
Waiting for any answer and help in that matter.
What could cause this problem ?
I am really waiting for Your fast answer,
thanks in advance
Regards,
Robert

Re: LCD turns off while "Search for NTFS structure" performi
The problem is solved.
I have bought a new GIGABYTE motherboard, installed Win 7 and PC3K, I performed "search NTFS structures" and worked good without errors and freezes, like it used to be with ASUS one.
So, I was sure the motherboard was causing problems, then I installed my old ASUS again and decided to move PC3K UDMA card to PCI slot under the previous one, I installed the new version of software 4.5.4 I performed the "search NTFS" again on the same HDD's which previously caused problems and now everything works perfectly. Hope I will not have this kind of surprises in future.
Thank You for support and comments, I appreciate it.

Robert
