Detection of HDD COM port baud rate..... : Error

Dear All,
I have a seagate 7200.7 ST380011A Drive. When i connect it to the usb terminal, the terminal replies with
Detection of HDD COM port baud rate..... : Error
Terminal : reply timeout error
Terminal is constantly repeating the message below:

Further its dont enter the terminal F-level when start in safe mode and i cannot use the terminal command.
can anyone advice what to do?

Have you tried to replace USB cable?

I had problems once and turned out to be USB cable.
