Hi all,

I want to ask You a question related to Your hardware configuration which is combatible with PC3000 UDMA.
My current configuration is listed below and I can say that I've got some kind of hardware problem, because while performing "search NTFS structures" in DE, my PC freezes and the only thing to use is power off button.

My system configuration is:

Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO - chipset AMD 785G
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 620 s.AM3
RAM: Geil 2x2GB DDR3 1333 Dual Chanel Kit 9-9-9
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS-EU 500W
HDD: Samsung 500GB 16MB HD502HJ F3 sATA-2
OS: Windows 7 Professional x86 (32bit)

I was testing all devices separately and everything works fine, I also installed XP on the configuration above and the problem still exists. The curious thing is that on my old computer (Athlon XP 1800+ and ECS Motherboard with XP operating system) everything works fine.

I want to ask, what kind of motherboard and CPU are You using ? to determine if shall I buy rather motherboard for AMD or Intel.
Maybe the chipset 785G is making the problems ?

Waiting for Your comments, thank You.

Do you have that on all occasions when you do NTFS scan or only for a particular drive ?

I had this once, but it was due to the damage to the MFT for that particular drive.
Other drives did not give this problem.

You've got 4Gb of RAM in 32-bit XP, take one of the 2Gb RAM sticks out.

The problem is solved.
I can tell You that I have bought a new GIGABYTE motherboard, installed Win 7 and PC3K, I performed "search NTFS structures" and worked good without errors and freezes, like it used to be with ASUS one.

So, I was sure the motherboard was causing problems, then I installed my old ASUS again and decided to move PC3K UDMA card to PCI slot under the previous one, I installed the new version of software 4.5.4 I performed the "search NTFS" again on the same HDD's which previously caused problems and now everything works perfectly. Hope I will not have this kind of surprises in future.

Thank You for support and comments, I appreciate it.
Regards,
Robert
