Hi,

I've got the question of a client, who wants to use an SSD disk as a replacement for a normal HDD in a very harse environment.
His problem is that the software he installed, is connected to the hardware of his harddrive (number of lba's, model and serial number).
Is there a possibility to modify an SSD disk so it acts as another drive ?

As far as i know this will require some very low-level changes. Has anybody done this yet and if so how ?

I suppose if the solid drive you want to use instead of common drive uses same interface, then most likely it will fit.

What kind of software is it?
Try to ask WD technical support about that software.
I suppose solid state drive vendors could answer to this question for 100%

There is no possibility to do that yet. SSD drives are still raw and not well discovered as HDDs. We haven't any information about "techno mode" of the SSDs.
