48-pin wide NAND on LGA52/TSOP48 module – VCC Overcurrent in both orientations

Postby italyassistance » 08.08.26, 09:15

Hi,

I am working on a USB flash drive with a NAND package that has 48 physical pins (24 per side), but the package is significantly wider than a standard TSOP48 and does not fit the normal TSOP48 socket.

I therefore soldered the NAND on the PC-3000 Flash LGA52/TSOP48 replaceable module.

The problem is that PC-3000 immediately reports:

PWR ON Error on channel VCC – Overcurrent detected

I first suspected the orientation, because the package marking / pin 1 indication does not seem to match the triangle/reference on the module.

I tested the chip in both possible orientations, but I get VCC Overcurrent in both cases.

The NAND has exactly 48 visible leads, but because of its unusual width I am not sure whether this is:

a TSOP48 Wide package,
a special TSOP56-derived package with some missing leads,
or another non-standard NAND pinout.

I have attached photos of:

the NAND soldered on the LGA52/TSOP48 module;
the original USB PCB with the NAND removed;
the original NAND footprint;
the current jumper/wiring configuration on the PC-3000 module.

Before trying anything else and risking damage to the NAND, could you please advise:

What package/pinout is this NAND likely to use?
Is the standard LGA52/TSOP48 module suitable for this chip?
Does this type of NAND require a specific VCC/V2/VCCQ jumper configuration?
Which orientation should be used on the module?
Is there a specific PC-3000 Flash adapter or wiring diagram for this type of wide 48-lead NAND?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello,

It will be very tricky to solder it correctly due to the unknown power scheme for this chip. Some NC contacts may use for VCC or VCCq, and it's not easy to find out the correct scheme.
Instead, we recommend to upgrade your reader by cutting some plastic borders on TSOP-48 adapter. After that, you will be able to read both of TSOP48, including TSOP48W.
