PM851 - no BSY state no access... nothing

Postby c.vogl@solution.at » 12.01.19, 15:42

Hello,

i got this drive (PM851 - with 840 Controller) to recover, but there is no BSY state, and i can't get to Safe Mode - all chips are getting warm, not hot, just normal temperature.
Any idea what else i can try to get in safe mode?

Can you show us SAFEMODE pins that you are trying to short?

My recommendation - try to solder something between this two points. Wire, or soldering tin.

i already soldered the terminal PINs - and he also wrote me terminal access OK - so i'll try tomorrow with those 2 pins too, but i think it will not help - we will see :)

Hello again, as expected no reaction with soldered Safemode Pins - because there was no BSY State too before.

Then, most probably your drive has an issue with power supply or with CPU. Sometimes due the voltage jumps, CPU might become burned. In this case the only way to get the data - swap the NAND chips to donor SSD.

OK, 12V and 5V displays everything green.... i'll try to swap or first try to check voltages and/or rehot.
