I have an Macbook 2013-2017 12+16 Pin 256Gb Samsung SSD. It died on me yesterday. Is there any chance that it can be recovered??
Soldering, PC3000, NAND Chipoff???
I tried using a heat camera to detect a problem. And find out the main controller chip is very hot.

Re: Macbook SSD SAMSUNG
Hello.
If there is a short circuit, the most effective way would be the NAND chip swap to donor PCB. But the main issue is that current Apple drive are using a compound which cover the whole PCB, including the NAND chips. It will be not easy to swap them.
Anyway, probably as an option you can try to find a damaged capacitor or resistor on the board which cause the CPU overheating. Simple component replacement could also help.

Not that I'm ever going to try this, but I didn't think it would be possible to swap NAND chips to a donor due to controller encryption on these Apple devices. Are they not encrypted at the controller?
Re: Macbook SSD SAMSUNG
Samsung CPU controller doesn't have any encryption keys inside. They are using only encryption mechanism, while all keys are located inside the NAND chips.
