SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB
Hi, I need to disable unlock user PWD on SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB. What I have to do or when ACELAB will support those SAMSUNG SSD drives. They are very popular among a lot of users.
Re: SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB
Unfortunately there is no way to recover modern Samsung drives. Terminal is locked there, it's impossible to send any techno-commands through ATA. As the result, we can't remove password or rebuild tranlsator. Maybe solution will be later, but for now we can work only with drives which are described here:

Re: SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB
OK. I understand you.
This SSD drive is from a HP PROBOOK 6550b. User PWD of the SSD 850 EVO was written by this notebook. But motherboard of the notebook is damaged. I do not have any other HP PROBOOK. Is any way to unlock SSD user lock, if I know user PWD? Do you know any utility to do this?

Re: SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB
Partly solved….
Original board was dead. In this notebook (HP PROBOOK 6550b) was used OPAL encryption for this SSD. I tried use other HP PROBOOK 650 (support OPAL) and original PWD. User remembered PWD... And data are extracted..

Re: SAMSUNG 850 EVO - 250GB
I have a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO that is either bad or has some kind of lock blocking sector access.
It will detect the model, serial, and sector count and shows DRD+DSC, but every attempt to read any sectors is immediate fail/black, but it doesn't go BSY.
The drive does detect model/serial on a regular windows machine too, just plugged into SATA, but no sector or data access obviously. I mention this because when it's plugged into her Dell 660s computer that I had her bring in, it does not detect or show up in bios at all, yet the SATA port detects other drives just fine.
Was this behavior similar to the the lock you were experiencing? Does this drive sometimes fail like this vs no detecting or going and staying BSY? I don't recall seeing this exact issue, so my thoughts are that maybe it is some kind of lock.
I didn't see much in BIOS though on the original computer (which is a desktop) that would allow for a change.
She says the problem occurred right after the latest Windows update.
