Kingston 240GB ssdNOW V300 with sandforce controller

Postby odedshankar » 11.04.19, 02:43

HI Guys,

I have got a Kingston 240gb ssdNOW V300 with sandforce controller SP2HN440.
PCB 2024447-001.F00G
The drive seems to have a firmware corruption.

Does anyone knows if this drive/controller is supported by PC3K or any other solutions available at all?

Thanks

Hello. This drives are not supported, you can read more about them here:

https://forum.acelaboratory.com/viewtop ... 955#p29955

Also, there are a couple of companies in the world founded by ex-Seagate engineers who have access to SF techno utility, but:

1. They do not sell anything and just provide recovery service;
2. Process of recovery is very complex and based on chip-off method with decryption based on keys DB from original SF company;
3. Recovery success depends on drive. They can provide solution only for limited number of issue with SSD;
4. Recovery price is extremely high. Most of customers will not accept it. But of course if they are not limited in money, it's a chance to get at least partial result.
With best regards

The one lab I send the SandForce cases I can't handle has recovered 100% of the cases, without any data loss. That said, I've only had 4 or 5 cases out of more than 100 where my client has been willing to spend the thousands to have their data recovered.

thanks for the info Luke. as expected not many customers can afford this cost, but good to know that the option exists.
