I've seen several SSDs (samsung and sandisk) from 2013+ Mac laptops that don't initialize (I've used the OWC PCIE-USB adapter and a PCIE adapter in a MacPro).
A very common issue is that they've gotten wet, since the SSD location is right below the fan exhaust vent where it's easy for liquid to enter.

Does anyone have a fair amount of success with these? Let me know / pm me if you're interested in the ones we receive.

I had one come in like that, which had been doused with salt water. I couldn't get it to work, even tried sending it out to a guy who specializes in rebuilding these and he couldn't get it to work either. And chip-off is generally out of the question as most of these have controllers that encrypt the data.

Only a few with sandforce controllers i have a different one .This is for your info

Sandforce aren't the only ones using encryption.
