Hitachi HUA722010CLA331,said HDD came with no detection . I was changed the PCB (not exactly matched as per the label pasted on pcb) and rom and now its working with help of "hdd translator initialisation in RAM" . i can see the ID & Capacity also i can access full sector . But i marked one thing that , sector 0 and rest other showing that like "encrypted" in Utility . But in Data Extractor as normal i can see the sector start to end.

Now the problem is that I can't get any of the user data from the HDD. also any partition is showing. i tried even RAW, make image to another hdd and tried in R-Studio, but nothing happen. .

Is it problem may be PCB ?
Or any other ?

this device implements hardware encryption but is related to a ATA security lock - as this has no lock on it but data is encrypted either password was removed previously, or it is encrypted with some other encryption, but with the lack of a MBR it cannot be software based encryption so you should ask more about the origins of this disk and the system it was part of, how it was configured etc.

Maybe someone else has more ideas on it, or knows more about how the BDE feature works on this model?

Now i am searching for the same to same PCB. Also i try to find out exact problem in native pcb. I try to repair the PCB but fail. I also change the MCU . but after that its not even givng any signal. Any way i am searching for the same donar drive.

I have one of these in now. I had one last month too. Says "security locked" in Hitachi utility, but full ID. Can't do anything as unlock procedure (requiring removal of PCB then re-attachment) fails. I asked ace and they said no solution.

I think on these that removal of password will complicate the encryption security - I have not seen one yet so I am not sure about it

betty, could you please provide screenshot of MBR? Do you know where is this drive from? (PC or smth else)

At least with the two I've had, there is no sector access at all. This is on PC3K (including universal util) and DDI.

Ah! Solved mine. PCB was not original. Original PCB was dead. Fuse/TVS bad. Fixed, now working with full LBA.
