Postby baldric » 07.09.16, 12:29

Hi good afternoon,

Anybody like to try this issue?

My hitachi drive is not able to see the SA or userdata.

I can only the see
Model : HGST HTS725050A7E630
Serial : RC250ACB20239J
Firmware : GS2OA340

I did a head swap with a working donor drive.
The donor drive is still working, so the head in the patient drive before the head swap should be working.

Hello,

As you can see drive can't to read USAG module from the Service area.
As result it can't to load list of SA modules.
Such behavior can be if drive have problem with Heads/surface or directly with both copies of USAG module in SA.
With best regards

Hi Filipp Good evening,
Thank you for your time explaining this.

Is there anyway i could get the data back out?
Hot-swap or replacing the PCB?

He already gave you the answer:

Most likely issue is heads.

Hi DataMedics,

thank you for writing,

I had the same error prior to doing head swap.
After the head swap, my donor drive is still working, and i can even read data from my donor drive.
so the head in the patient drive before the head swap should be working before the head replacement.

Then the issue is the service area. If it can't load the list of modules, might just be stuck. I'm not sure if there's any way to force load a modules list in there. Maybe could try writing a donor modules list, but that's risky because if the modules are in different locations you could lose some critical modules after.

Possibly something along the lines of a hot swap from a very close donor with an attempt to read some critical modules would be the way to go, but you're venturing into pretty new territory there. Not sure it'd get much results.
