Hi guys,

I have here a job where patient nv-ram is completely gone.
So I tried a few I have here but no one worked out.
I've heard that it's possible with pc3k to read nv-ram from surface. Anyone done it already?

Thanks.

I also have a Hitachi HTS541080G9AT00, client sent it with ROM chip missing. Tried several donor PCBs, but all fail to give access to SA or data.

I hav connected my disk to UDMA, connected COM to PC-2" adaptor, and loaded utility. Disk ID cannot be read, and SA cannot be read. I have backed up donor NVRAM, and selected 'NVRAM Adjustment SA Search'.

Is this correct? Disk is flashing BSY, DRD, and DSC, and also INF. The utility is also constantly repowering the drive, I assume this is to test different findings?

I will update here with my results once process is complete, but is there anything I am missing? Have I done something wrong?

Thanks

Same here, i have HTS541616J9SA00 nvram is damaged, not sure if it is corrupted in the header or completely dead, swap to good pcb not working. Swap nvram from other pcb works.

Can UDMA retrieve the contents of original nvram from the SA?

thanks

Maybe Acelabs can tell-us why ?

Hitachi have no exact copy of NV-RAM in the surface, but there is more way to rebuild the content.
I can help if somebody interested.
