Hi,
I have this HGST 1.5 TB, HTS541515A9E630, P/N: 0J31141, MLC: DA6004, 08MAY14.
All it does it's clicking. It this one supported? It seems i cannot find the right family for it.
Also cannot find any donors. Have any of you worked on this type ?
Thanks.

Re: HTS541515A9E630
MasterT, Hello, this drive is partially supported! You can try to use Hitachi IBM-ARM Utiluty 5410A9 Family with Tech Key detection
But remember, that clicking HDD most probably has physical problems with heads / surface, therefore I recommend you to open and inspect it

Re: HTS541515A9E630
Thanks for the tip.
After initializing with 5410A9 Family Drive stops clicking. If i Refresh HDD ID i get correct id with capacity.
I tried to backup resources and after lot of struggle it seems it can read OK copy 0 of RPSH and USAG, and copy 0 of MFGP with error (if i look inside module is all 00 00 00 00 00)
I don't see any RMDT or PSHT modules so i can initialize translator in ram.
If i try to edit NV-RAM i get that head map is 20 00 E8 03 E3 78. Which kind of strange.
I've seen talking about same subject here:
viewtopic.php?f=161&t=9179&p=32389&hilit=5410A9#p32389
Also i've seen you provided the Correct Head map location Offset in there.
So i searched in hex NV-RAM.nvr to NV-RAM_5.nvr for normal head map like 00 01 02 03 ... but could not find any.
Any hint about head map editing?
Anyway now drive was in ready state and i tried to see if it can read user data.
I could build Heads Map.
After lots of trials in data extractor setings i found that hd0 hd1 hd3 hd4 hd 5 can read user data and hd2 is completely dead.
The key for reading is to increase timeouts otherwise the drive would get BSY and never come back when it reaches bad sectors.
After visual inspection hd2 seems to be ok so maybe just the coils in it are damaged and that's why cannot make reading.
I guess if i find donor i could read that surface too.
It's slowly reading now. I could find partitions and needed data. I'll keep you posted.

Re: HTS541515A9E630
I Found what is looks like head map in ROM file at Offset 0x3698
00 01 02 03 04 05 0F 0F
I tried to disable damaged hd2 by manual editing rom at this offset but problem is i cannot write rom.
Test : Write ROM
Writing ROM from file ( C:\Program Files (x86)\ACE Lab\PC-3000\Bin\!Profiles\HITACHI-IBM-ARM\5410A9\1073 - Euro PC - HGST HTS541515A9E630-KA0OA500-DA4010DBG412LR\Data\SABackup\ROM\ROM - Copy.bin )
Loading............................................................... : Ok
Error loading firmware HDD Redynes timeout (10000)
Write ROM............................... : Error
Any ideeas ?

Re: HTS541515A9E630
You have to disable head in NV-RAM not in Rom.
Re: HTS541515A9E630
NV-RAM is just a part of ROM.
Re: HTS541515A9E630
MasterT wrote:Source of the post NV-RAM is just a part of ROM.
Head map is located inside NV-RAM (which is a part of ROM that you correctly mentioned) therefore you need to open NV-RAM (via Tools --> Service information objects), change requested bytes manually and save it.
Entirely ROM writing is not a good idea for this purpose

Re: HTS541515A9E630
I did like you said to disable hd2 in nv ram and now it looks like this when starting:
Selected family......................... : 5410A9
Model by ID............................. : <ID IS NOT READ>
Techno mode key......................... : Error
ROM reading...
Possible Tech Key is found. Checking...
Result.................................. : Ok
Loading modules table................................................. : Ok
Loading the table of "open" modules................................... : Ok
I was able to backup all resources.
Also i could read all surfaces except hd2. Still looking for donor to make complete recovery.

MasterT, Good news! Thanks for the feedback!
Which Head map did you use in this case?

Another Case #
Since the HM area in NVM is identical for years, at least a seperate utility can be added which detects/reads the correct location directly through the utility, where we Don't need to work manually everytime. I believe its 5mins job your programmer!

Re: HTS541515A9E630
Hello guys!
I have one that damaged the SA modules.
We need compatible resources to boot to RAM.
I couldn't find these features - Model: HGST HTS541010A7E630 Firmware: SE0OA4K0
Does anyone have a backup of this model to send us here?
Thank you!
