Is HTS541075A7E630 supported? Head map looks strange...

Postby 300ddr » 03.02.17, 02:52

This drive is a bit noisy after powering on, but gets ready after a few seconds. There is no 5410A7 family, so using 5410A9, I enter utility. "No open modules." But refreshing ID shows full ID except size. When I tried to edit heads in nvram, things don't look normal:

Is it possible to edit this head map? Is this normal? Or does it looks like this because it's not supported yet?

Thanks,
Brian

I've found some newer Hitachi ARM drives giving some strange head maps, but not quite that weird. Either PC3K is looking at the wrong spot or those sectors are not being read correctly.

300ddr, Yes, this is drive is not fully supported thus Head map looks strange via 'NV-RAM visual editing' (but it's not the sign of damage).
Correct Head map is located by 0x690 Offset for this model. So you can try to change it manually for checking damaged head.

I believe Sergey means that you need to open nv-ram, go to mentioned offset, change the HM and save nv-ram.
