On a working drive I can read terminal output but is there anyway to figure out which preamp is being used on a 2.5" Samsung drive if the heads are physically damaged?
I'm getting output but can the output on the damaged drive be relied upon as accurate?
How do I determine the preamp type on a damaged samsung 2.5"

Should still show in terminal with pcb only.

Yeah, I thought so too but the detail I get from using just the PCB seems incomplete:
>>>Invalid PA VID
*PA VID=0012 PN=0000 Rev=000F Invalid Preamp
U
S_0PreampError

Hi,
if you use donor board on patient and do not get preamp error your head swap is good to go and also you can check preamp on do not in terminal and most prob you defective head preamp would be the same
