May I add my question to this post as it is also about USB to SATA PCB?

I have a Samsung HM502JX, PCB BF41-00282A 00, M7S-S_LINE REV .01 - which is a compatible SATA PCB? I have had a look at converting to SATA, but those pads are way too tiny for me.

Just a guess here, but I think the necessary board might be: BF41-00249B
I've never tried it, but the main IC and motor controller seems to match.

Please do update whether or not that's the correct board when you get this case solved. I'd like to update my list mentioned above.

You can try using boot rom code to see if the PCB will respond and allow you to read it over the com port. Otherwise you have to rebuild the ROM from the service area. Drives w/o an external ROM always have a backup copy in SA.
