WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0 fw require

Postby protontech » 15.12.17, 12:44

Hy everybody

I got a WD3200BEVT drive for data recovery, it has bad heads, I swapped it with a good donor, but it can't read its own SA unfortunately. I have lots of hdd from this series but not with this params..
The firmware is 22ZCT0

ROM version............................. : 08.3CD
ROM F/W version......................... : 0008003C
Overlay F/W version..................... : 08.3CD
Servo F/W version....................... : 02.14

I need loder for this drive, but unfortunately i don't find any in HDDsurgey, and in donordrive.I would be very gratefull if anyone can attach a backup for me or a loader also can be enough.

Thanks, David.

You cannot read SA at all? does spindle remain powered after the change? Can you short read channels and read any modules by ID?

Other option is to read off ROM so you have a backup, then write ROM from any resource in your database, repower and use LDR that corresponds with the ROM version you just wrote. If you have no suitable LDR available, then try this and once you secure enough adaptive modules (if they read) you can attempt to recover files after Hotswap.

Did you ensure relevant parameters in DCM code matched between donor and patient?

Thank you for your answer AJ2008

I attached a photo from the patient and the donor. The adaptives diferents are less then 100 and I make avaraged of them. The spindle is stopped after ready with error, it was the same with it's original head, this reason i couldn't read modules by id.I also try upload dir&ldr from its own SA but it is fail. I will try the trick with the ROMs and try to read the modules, i will write a reply with the results. Is hotswap works with this rom trick? Asking because this was my first oppinion, but i didn't find suitable donor..

Thank again for your time and the answer!
Best regards, David.

David ,
If You Block SA And the drive heads still knocks there is a head issue .Can you try the following ,Block SA then enable only head 0 then switch drive on/off if it does not knock head 0 is fine ,Do this for all heads and find out the culprit and then we will see how to tackle it .

If spindle stops with DSC DRD then blocking regions would not help - this would help in cases where ERR register alone is displayed after spindle stopping. Donor selection looks good to me. At this point you cannot rule out poor quality donor, errors with the swap itself, or potentially there are some surface read errors.

Did you try to limit active heads in RAM map? Maybe it is possible to get online with one or more heads disabled - as far as I remember this model has 4 heads? As long as at least one service head remains on it should come online, but obviously if this is possible you will lose access to any surface sectors on the surface corresponding with a disabled head or heads.
