WD3200AACS Spider Head Replacement Problem

Hello,

I had customer with WD3200AACS-32ZUB0 (DCM: EHNCHT2CA) with a degraded head (1). I did head map in DE and imaged the drive on the functional heads.

I could not find an extract donor so I ordered WD5000AACS-00ZUB0 (DMC: DANCHT2CAN). The replacement went well, the hard drive is recognizes and reads all modules without an issue but it will NOT read logically. I put the customer (degraded heads) into the donor and it also recognizes, reads all modules and can read logically (minus the failed head).

So... I dont understand, why does the donor head not work in my customer drive (or at least doesnt read logically) when the failed heads have no problems reading on the donor drive.

Any suggestions? Thank you

murphman, try to edit the head map in RAM http://blog.acelaboratory.com/ram-head-map-editing-on-wd-drives-non-system-head-case.htmlusing the donor heads.
