WD20EARS Head Problem
Posted: 18.10.16, 11:24
Hi guys,
I'm a two day old UDMA user
.
I'm working on a WDC WD20EARS-22MVWB0 hard drive and it has an exact symptom mentioned in one of Acelab video (WD20EARS-00MVWB0 COMMON PROBLEM WITH HEADS MAP). I followed through the steps
SA Checking
Head Test
Sector View (before changing head map in RAM)
Sector View (Changed all to 0 0 0 0 0 0 --> soft reset --> changed all back to 0 1 2 5 6 7 --> soft reset)
It read sectors
Now when we turn the HDD off, everything back to square one as expected. We do not own DE just yet, we are using Deepspar DDI to image HDD.
Question
1. Can UDMA disable head no. 4 so that we can image the drive in DDI4? Read some info from WDC_en.pdf page 36 (Software deactivation of drive heads) is this the way?
2. What other alternative do we have without DE?
Any advise will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Best Regards
