WD20EARS says BSY

Hi, I have this 2TB Green WD drive that stays BSY on PC3000 forever.

I used a matching controller, transplanted the ROM chip and same thing.
Plus Patient card works perfectly on Donor after transplant that chip too.

The sound from the inside is not the normal clicking it just sounds like
it's busy reading/writing - who knows...

Opened in clean room and everything looks perfect.

Heads right?

Hi Chris,

Have seen this before and can be caused by mod 32 Relo-list, I found that HDD must be left for some time(Long), after clearing mod 32 works OK, of course make sure HSA and surface OK first as I am sure you have, also I have noticed jogs can be quite fay apart for donor HSA even >200.

Also might be worth changing ROM head map to head 0, and or changing SA address (block) in kernel mode.

Thanks Heavy water.

The WD drive stays BSY for a long time, then motor stops and Red error light.

Any other suggestions?

I'm going with Heads needed.

You mean 'AMN' is highlighted, but no other lights?

Its not heads.

If you short TV9 + TV10, or block SA regions in Kernel, you will see it show DRDY and motor remains on. this is becuase SA is now blocked and the original fault that actually lies with SA is not present.

Probably you have some error with one or more critical modules. Module 03 will cause error like this, as will bad translator and on times relo list can cause similar problem.

You need to get SA access and check SA structures for errors

For the record, this post (specialy AJ2008) help me.

Just short TV9 + TV10 at power on to access drd+rdy, use utility on kernel mode, then apply this :
