WD60EDAZ-11U78B0 - T2recreate OK, also SED problem?

Postby MrHopper » 01.02.22, 15:55

Hello.
WD60EDAZ-11U78B0 PCB 2060-810011 out from USB-case WD Elements. All sectors with 0000.

I transfered ROM to an unlocked China-PCB and I got access to the modules. Could read all modules in copy0 (also 190 good), copy1 (190 with defects). All modules in copy0 are OK/ green, I made the test.

I made T2 anlysis and recovery.

After the procedure to read sectors with new T2 and I can see data in the sectors, but maybe encrypted? No key works to see normal data. Customer didn't used encryption. I made head map to test the heads, 1 of 6 is working bad (bad head 0, but it works good in to read modules!)

I see "Self encryption drive" in the log ---> "yes" and also in "Edit HDD ID/ Security subsystem" --> check

I tried also take Key from files and folders, no success. And there is no encryption over the USB-case-electronic, I made a test with normal other HDD and data.

For me it looks like maybe damaged T2 data or an encryption problem. Some other ideas?

By the way: Some weeks before I made the same T2 procedure with WD60EMAZ-51LW3B0 without problems. First also all sectors 0000, after T2- recreation good access to the data, also 1 head with problems in this case.

PS: Right now I have no TS contract with ACE Lab :-), to ask there
