WD40EFPX-68C6CN0 (PCB 810051) SED

Postby Hddex » 23.10.25, 21:26

Hello everyone,

I have a WD40EFPX-68C6CN0 that does not display the passport information. When trying to use the autodetect utility, I am met with the drive obviously being SED locked. No biggie, I removed the PCB where I was met with 3 different BIOS chips located on the PCB, since the next step for my drive would be to unlock the BIOS in order to attempt recovery on the drive I am looking for some more guidance on working with this PCB, now two of the BIOS chips are labeled as 25Q40EWVIG, 2339 while the one located closer to the drive connection is labeled 25Q80EWVIG, 2337. I have attached a picture below of the PCB and have the 2 BIOS chips marked 25Q40EWVIG, 2339 have been circled in red while the singular chip marked 25Q80EWVIG, 2337 has been circled in yellow. Based on the location and format of the chips and also the chips being labeled differently, I am assuming I will just need to remove the one circled in yellow to unlock the SED, but some more guidance would be very appreciated.

Thank you
