HEX EDITOR how do you select?

is there any documentation on the hex editor?

how do I select a range of bytes to generate a checksum on?

i can click and drag a small range

but lets say i want to select from 0 to ffffd ?

I could click zeroth byte and hold drag it down the screen and wait like an hour for it to get to the bottom.

normal windows usage would be

click first byte
hold shift
click last byte

thats not it...
