I've been working with a WD5000BMVW with PCB 771737. According to the list of compatible SATA boards the one I need is 771692. My original issue was that my patient has a 512KB ROM chip and all SATA donor boards I looked at had only a 256KB chip. I finally found one with a 512KB chip from a different job I was working on and tried to use it by flashing the ROM but it didn't work. Now when I want to flash back the ROM to the original data that was on it I cannot do it because now it presents as a 256KB chip.
Any ideas?

Re: Weird ROM Size Issue
What is the part number of the board with the 512ROM on it? Did you check the actual file size of the Donor ROM you are trying to flash back?
What we do is keep a typical donor 771692 that has the usual Winbond 25x2__ chip at U12. For these special cases we removed a Winbond 25x4___ (512k) from a different PCB and put it on another 771692. This way we have both donor boards ready to go for either ROM size.
