Hi Folks,

I have got a Seagate ST1000LM002, P/N: 9VQ14L-550, FW CC96.
PCB:1006609264 REV B

The drive was dropped and the heads were faulty when i got it.

I swapped the heads, and not they are making what seems to me like a healthy sounds and seek noise for FW, and then it stay busy but the motor keeps on spinning.
This is what i get in the terminal:
"Rst 0x10M
RW: Disc Ctlr Initialization Completed.
FAIL Op=0165 Resp=0005
FAIL Op=0055 Resp=0005
FAIL Op=0900 Resp=0005
FAIL Op=0600 Resp=0005

And i am locked from accessing the terminal.


I suspect 2 options:
1. FW Corruption which is quite common on F3 - in this case would love to get your opinion if you had a similar case.
2. Maybe heads are not compatible enough?

Also if you have the shorting point on the PCB it would be great if you can share it.

What are the status registers showing? I assume it's getting stuck BSY??? In which case I'd first try turning off all background reallocation processes in system file 93 in case it's a pending type of issue. Might also be an issue with media cache. Probably will have to short read read channel in either event, which might even resolve the issue all on it's own if it's just the media cache. Just have to time it right.

Then check the reading possibility on the Sys files, take a look terminal report after modify SMP flags.
