Future support of Seagate HDDs

Hello AceLabs,
I wondered if anyone there could update the forum on the future support of Seagate technology HDDs? There are a number of models now which do not yet have full support in PC3000 (we currently have a "Bacall" series HDD in). It would also be useful for any information on the prospect of HDDs from Seagate that are likely to have locked terminal access or an encrypted service area? Are any other forum users aware of Seagate's plans? Is this all leading up to the requirement of having to use 'Seagate's Official Data Recovery Service' or some other Seagate authorised reseller of DR services to allow for recovery?
Best regards.

The lack of access you have is related to the security of the devices, not lack of support in PC3000.
As an idea (I dont have any to try myself) what happens if you write RAP CAP SAP IAP from your patient ROM into the ROM of a donor PCB of same family that is not SED enabled? Can you then reach SA and T> on your patient via the donor PCB? Obviously data would not be accessible but this may be helpful if it allows access. Please let me know if this works as it is something I have not had much chance to look at yet.

Which support do you mean? Do you mean support for SED/FDE models or models using security such as Secureboot which prevents SA and terminal access?
Thanks,

Just wondering if you've tried this yet?

Nice indeed! Will be looking forward to it. Might have to update my support subscription when the need arises.

I've got a project drive here that has been waiting since last spring for this update. It cannot get here fast enough. With my luck, my diagnosis will be wrong and it will have nothing to do with the firmware and everything to do with the heads.

Yes, it was "Lombard" which I was particularly interested in.
Thanks for your support.
