how to unlock ST22000NM001E-3HM103 (no need to save data)

Postby ictsec.areait » 26.08.25, 11:03

Hi,
I've a couple of ST22000NM001E drive that are locked, this is what I get about security running hdparm -I:
Security:
Master password revision code = 65534
supported
enabled
locked
not frozen
not expired: security count
supported: enhanced erase
1854min for SECURITY ERASE UNIT. 1854min for ENHANCED SECURITY ERASE UNIT.

I've tried to unlock the drive using hdparm and giving PSID as user or master password without success.

I've also tried the procedure explained in this blog post "Unlocking Self-Encrypting Drive"
https://blog.acelab.eu.com/pc-3000-for- ... drive.html
It fails and I got this error: "BootCode is locked! Use programmer for ROM reading!"

I've also tried the procedure explained in this blog post: "The password removing procedure for Seagate F3 drives"
https://blog.acelab.eu.com/password-seagate-f3.html
It fails and also fails when I try the procedure that isolate splindle motor contact.

I do not need to recover the data I just want to unlock drives to use them again.
I'm not a PC3000 expert, can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance
Paolo
