FAIL Servo Op=0155 Resp=0007 Problem!!!

Postby VaibhavS » 14.08.15, 09:23

Hello everyone,

I have a Seagate ST500DM002, f/w - KC48, 3.5" HDD
During power ON, it stays BSY
this terminal output :
Boot 0x10M
Spin Up[0x00000000][0x0000B67C][0x0000BA10]
Trans.

Rst 0x10M
MC Internal LPC Process
Spin Up
(P) SATA Reset

Then I tried shorting and it became READY and the motor also keeps running, with the following details and terminal output -

Model : ST_M13FQBL
Serial : QNR_BFW
Firmware : 02131127
Capacity : 3.86 GB (8 089 950)

What is the problem? And how do I proceed further? Is the problem with heads? The motor keeps running though.
If I turn off power and again power On it, it again stays BSY and have to repeat the same procedure to get it READY.

Please help me out to proceed further and get the full capacity.

Hello,

Please start Seagate baracuda utility, then minimise it and start Data Extractor.
In data extractor select "Active utility actions" option and start up the task. The loader is already created, so try starting with its default values, then try reaching the data.

Even though this is an F3 model (ST500DM002, right?) he should use the Barracuda utility?

No, you can upload LDR in F3 models also, which uploads a set of overlays to RAM.

Im not so sure a loader would work on this case though? It will need shorting at the right time (should see some message like 'DOS Fail' when right) and this should give you T> at terminal. If it comes ready with the ID 'ST_M13FQBL' then it has not shorted.

Right, but F3 LDR should be loaded from F3 utility, not Barracuda Utility. ?

Please start Seagate baracuda utility, then minimise it and start Data Extractor.

I'm sorry, for F3 architecture loader works if drive comes to ready state.
In regard original message I think problem deals with heads and it needs to open HDA and look into heads and media.
