STM380815AS - Safe Mode / family / PCB
Posted: 24.10.12, 10:30
Hi there
I have a drive (STM380815AS sata drive) witch PCB is down - short circuit on +5V, shutdown the computer if drive is powered-on
I have a donnor PCB.
I search in the maxtor doc how to enable safe mode on this drive, but it not appear.
I find that STM is a Seagate disk branded Maxtor, so I try to use USB terminal with no luck.
I read from Seagate doc that "At present there are no methods for drive restoration if the native board is lost" (page 9 on SeagF3_en_NET.pdf)
The drive with spare PCB remains busy. PCB only remains busy as well.
The two PCBs are not exactly the same.
Broken is 100439888 E K818JW8D / 100422559 REV C
Donnor is 100508708 C C004ALGK / 100470387 REV B
My questions are :
- Am I able to recover data with my donnor PCB ?
- How-to enable safe mode on this drive ? - seems to work with Seagate U5 Barracuda 7200.10 Galaxy2D tools
- What tools must I use , maxtor or seagate ? - seems to work with Seagate U5 Barracuda 7200.10 Galaxy2D tools
- Do you have ideas how to fix the damaged PCB ?
thanks a lot.
