For testing & learning purposes:

I pick a fully functioning Maxtor Calypso 80Gb hdd;
start pc3k isa under standard mode and sucessfully create a LDF file from hdd;
(yes, I have udma and pci but I still like my old pc3k isa for Maxtor diagnostics )
jumper drive to safe mode, start hdd own ldr (just created from it)

hdd knocks endlessly

If I switch back drive to master, it returns to works flawlessly
same results achieved using pc3k pci or pc3k udma
have seen this occurs with more than one drive
how can the ldr from the same working drive make it knocks?
maybe a bug in the Calypso ldr creation routine?
