I have this maxtor sata it goes into ready but I can not access SA...

this maxtor drive belongs to Shasta family. Please choose that family and try to access its Service Area.

By the way, didn't you hear any knocking sound ?

no, there is no knocking sound, drive identifies as shasta and i can not acces service zone. Is there a manual...?

if this drive is sata, it worth trying to start autorecovery mode and see if it is possible to read its service area.

you need to go to your personal update box (Maxtor's directory) and to take necessary resources:


then import these resources to your database and start up maxtor utility
choose "Auto Recovery" option


Then press "play" button in the next window to proceed. If the service area of this drive is healthy - then the utility would make a copy of it.
