Greetings everybody!

HDD is spinning, cannot hear any knocking and detected by PC3000 UDMA as:

Code: Select all

Model: Maxtor ARES C64K
Serial:
Firmware: VAM51JJZ
Capacity: 38.29GB (80 295 529)

It shows following error when trying to start Utility:

Code: Select all

Initialization error
Context: Read roadmap
Content: Device error detected

Is there any chance to get data back from this drive? I don't have the same drive to create a loader. Any suggestions?

Pawel

Hello

At this point I cannot een get into an Utility, I am getting 'Initialization error' message box with [OK} and it gets back to detection screen.
I was hoping that with good loader I can at least diagnose it somehow.

Hi all, I got a loader and started the drive on 'Safe Mode', checked SA and it turned out that G-List is damaged. Cleaned it and restarted the drive in normal mode. Data is accessible in Data Extractor.

Greetings all. Pawel

Thank you for posting how you were able to recover the data. I have a similar drive that I just fixed.
