So i cant read the sectors in normal mode but when I read them with the "read with utility" option in the DMA section it reads sectors.

Can anyone explain why this occurs and what the ramifications are of doing the whole job using just the 'read with utility' option in DE?

It's likely due to a messed up G-List that the drive isn't able to read sectors on its own. Also could have to do with corrupt SMART logging modules. There's no problem with imaging the whole drive using the utility though, you just might want to be sure you select the box to solve corrupt glist. It's quite common to have to handle Toshiba cases that way.

Also, just beware that if you switch out of reading by utility mode to another mode like PIO, you must power cycle the drive. Otherwise, it'll just be reading useless junk data from the drives RAM and showing as a green read sector.
