Toschiba MK8026GAX - P-List, G-List problem ....

Hi AceLab,

I have MK8026GAX from which i need data recovery.
During his starting, audible rattling (scrach) is appearing. After a few "software reset" is loading information data of the disc. In the status appears information about read error G-List:

All the modules CP are readable, but except for one : DD - which is indicated as P-List. During the attempt of the reading the module DD disc he behaves as this way as during the start (scrach). At the end inficated only DRQ. (Module DD......: CP Reading error Drive is not ready)

Of course he isn't having access to sectors of the data area.

Whether in such a case the possibility of recovery data ?

Hello igen,

First of all I would like to say that the problem into DD, is the problem on surface.

All the modules CP are readable

because they situated on PCB.

So there are a few ways to recover the Data:
1) Toshiba drives always had one weak point - Spindle.
That's why you should look for Spindle stuck.
2) If the problem isn't in Spindle stuck then you should Swap the platters.

Hi Ignor,
I also encounter the same G list problem like igen's.The error log is exactlly the same and just my laptop drive is Toshiba MK6025GAS.it cannot be erased using PC3k and shows aborb error.Swapping PCB and heads still holds the same status.It still has the same problem even after swapping the platters.so,so ,I think the surface area contains G-list modules was broken.Is it possible to recovered data from this type of drive?for exmple reassigning g-list modules to a good area.I am looking forwards to getting your reply.
