Wonder any body had ever swap head stack successfully with the Toshiba mk6006 before.

I came across a few of these drive with head read write head. No matter how I swap the head stack from the donor drive to the patient drive, after swapping, it just clicked. I even tried with drive with the same manufacturing date. The swapping operating should successful because the head stack is not damaged after swapping back to donor drive. We use to do this for the 40 GB model without issue.

I tend to think that there are some thing unique in this drive but besides thinking that this is due to some unique pre-amplifier in each head stack, I could not think of anything else.

Wonder if there is any one with simialr experience.

Hi

We find that as long as you match the details of those drives precisely head work is very sucessful and responsive to head exchange, perhaps there is some unique code on ROM for that model.
