i have this toshiba MK5065GSXN With this message

The hdd is locked with ATA password...You must remove it using the utilities menus.

Lots of ideas here,
Unlock and extract data and keep an eye on any trouble related to G-List

There should be an option to do so on the menu of the Toshiba utility ?

Just detect the drive using PC-3000 Toshiba utility and check the menus ?

Fot Toshiba SATA all that it takes for the majority of cases is SUPER ON + VSC to regen "S" sector on platter ....

When you detect the drive with the Toshiba utility you can see this :

Techno On............................... : Ok

Means that the drive did accept the "SUPER ON" already . Now with the drive on that state go to the top bar of the PC-3000 TOSHIBA tool that you have opened and find there the option to remove the ATA password. There are 2 options one is to use the vendor specific command to tell the drive to regen the "S" sector on the platter and the other is to read the "S" sector by PBA and replace it by one of unlocked drive. PC-3000 should support both methods. Good thing about 2nd method is that you can write back original "S" sector to get the drive locked again with the exact same ATA password .
