Feature request for DE

Hi,

Is it possible to add the option to skip files that have been read with an irrecoverable error ?

Reason: Sometimes platters are slightly scratched. If we recover files and there is one file on a damaged location, the head will try and retry to read the data on the damaged spot, killing the head in a few seconds.

If DE could be instructed to skip the file once there has been one bad read, we could recover much more data from undamaged places.
When that has been done we can still try to read the other files with this option disabled.

Thanks in advance,

Dobre

Hello dobrevjetser,

Yes it's possible. This option available when you in saving process.
You need to make head map and mark places that you want to skip.

Hi Igor,

That option is only available when you make a Data Copy, not when retrieving files in the DE explorer.
It is there that it would intrest me the most.

But as I understand when you retrieving files in the DE you should make DATA Copy. So you can skip places...

I always use Data Copy option anyway. Seems to give more reliable results, and HDD seems to stay alive longer! :D
