!!! Important warning for PC3K/DE installed on systems with SMR drives (for map sectors) !!!

Postby igen » 07.04.23, 16:25

If someone works a lot on many tasks and maps sectors (in their reading time) - then they absolutely should not do it on SMR drives...

Especially on Seagate drives...
After some time - tasks in DE slow down and finally break down...

As we have a new disk (in the sense of pure MC) everything is ok.
But after some time - when DE saves tens or hundreds of thousands of files on the disk (in tasks) - and at the time of any changes (in DE - e.g. reading missing sectors) - problems begin....
Until the final corruption of the software....

At least that's how it was in my case.

Therefore - in my opinion - you should not map sectors in DE on SMR disks !!!

If you mean using Seagate SMR drives as destination drives, thats like begging for doing a job twice..
